Is Nicaragua in the Bible? Bible Study & Prayer for Nicaragua
Nicaragua is not named in the Bible. It lies in Central America between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, a land of lakes, volcanoes and warm coasts where most people speak Spanish. Scripture looks ahead to a day when "the earth will be full of the knowledge of Yahweh, as the waters cover the sea" (Isaiah 11:9), and that promise includes Central America.
Many families in Nicaragua have known hardship, and many have left home to find work. Jesus speaks to the weary: "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Paul reminds us that God "made from one blood every nation of men" (Acts 17:26).
How to pray for Nicaragua: Give thanks for its people. Ask Yahweh to give its leaders wisdom, honesty and justice (1 Timothy 2:1–2). Pray for families, for provision and work, and for protection in storms. Pray for those separated from loved ones to be comforted. Pray that believers and churches walk in love and unity, and that the name of Jesus (Yeshua) brings freedom and peace across the land.
Most often we don't know what to pray in a given situation, much less for something as large and complicated as a whole nation and all its people. Scripture says it plainly: "we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us" (Romans 8:26). Praying in tongues lets the Holy Spirit perfectly pray Yahweh's will through us for Nicaragua and its peoples. Learn more in Prayer in the Spirit.
