Is Ghana in the Bible? Bible Study & Prayer for Ghana

Ghana is not named in the Bible. The African lands Scripture names, such as Egypt and Cush (often translated "Ethiopia"), lie in the north and east of the continent, far from Ghana's coast on the Gulf of Guinea. Africa is still part of the Bible's story. In Acts, an official from Ethiopia heard the good news about Jesus, was baptized and "went on his way rejoicing" (Acts 8:27–39). John saw a great multitude "out of every nation and of all tribes, peoples, and languages" standing before the throne (Revelation 7:9).

"Let the peoples praise you, God. Let all the peoples praise you. Oh let the nations be glad and sing for joy" (Psalm 67:3–4). The good news of Jesus brings forgiveness, healing and new life by the Holy Spirit, and it is for the people of Ghana as for every nation.

How to pray for Ghana: Give thanks for its people. Ask Yahweh to give its leaders wisdom, honesty and a heart to serve. Pray for families and young people to have good work and provision. Pray that believers and churches walk in truth and love, and that the name of Jesus (Yeshua) brings healing and hope across the land.

Most often we don't know what to pray in a given situation, much less for something as large and complicated as a whole nation and all its people. Scripture says it plainly: "we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us" (Romans 8:26). Praying in tongues lets the Holy Spirit perfectly pray Yahweh's will through us for Ghana and its peoples. Learn more in Prayer in the Spirit.
