Is Bahrain in the Bible? Bible Study & Prayer for Bahrain
Bahrain is not named in the Bible. It is a small island nation in the Persian (Arabian) Gulf, just off the coast of Arabia. Historians link its islands with ancient Dilmun, a trading center known from Mesopotamian records, but Dilmun does not appear in Scripture either. The Bible does speak of Arabia and its people. Paul writes, "I went away into Arabia" (Galatians 1:17), and Arabians were in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost, hearing "the mighty works of God" in their own languages (Acts 2:11). Scripture also speaks to islands: "glorify Yahweh in the east, even the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea!" (Isaiah 24:15).
Many people in Bahrain have come from other countries to live and work, and Yahweh sees each one. "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5), and His love reaches every person.
How to pray for Bahrain: Pray for its people, citizens and those from other lands alike. Ask Yahweh to give its leaders wisdom, justice and peace. Pray that every believer there is strengthened, and that many come to know Jesus (Yeshua), whose name means "Yahweh saves."
Most often we don't know what to pray in a given situation, much less for something as large and complicated as a whole nation and all its people. Scripture says it plainly: "we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us" (Romans 8:26). Praying in tongues lets the Holy Spirit perfectly pray Yahweh's will through us for Bahrain and its peoples. Learn more in Prayer in the Spirit.
